Extra Training at Rhayader Dojo
3rd extra training session of the year, great turnout great day! :)
On Saturday 8th at Rhayader dojo the 3rd Extra Training session of 2013 took place with 2 sessions junior and senior. Students from Llanidloes, Presteigne & Rhayader dojo’s travelled to attend, I am really grateful for the support it really is appreciated that you all made the effort to attend.
The first session was for the juniors and we covered 20 minutes of Kihon (basic techniques) to ensure that we keep on top of our foundation, as the focus has been sparring in the clubs lately, so we must never forget our kihon. Each group was assisted by the 1st Dan Black belts who helped the students with the learning process, which is great for the students to receive the same message from someone different. We have a great group of black belts which is steadily growing in numbers!

The ’winner stays on’ drill produced a lot of interesting fights from all of the students, it was impressive to watch.
Well done to the following for training hard: Billy Jones, Poppy Jones, Louis Whitehead, Joe Whitehead, Bailey Latham, Chloe Mclellan, Sam Spedding, Felix Morris, and Simon McDade (who was injured but still came and watched!) from Presteigne dojo.
Ryan Woosnam, Thomas Woosnam, Josh Frantz-Morgans, Kristian Frantz-Morgans, D’yani Hinds-Williams, Sam Webster, Thomas Dam, Adam Lawrence, Ross Evans, Mal Parkes from Llanidloes dojo.
Thomas Skipsey, Iwan Blakeway, Rhodri Blakeway, Jack Anderson, Alan Samuel, John Hampton-Saunders from Rhayader dojo.
Thanks to our 1st Dan black belts Neil, George, Joe, Simon and Phil for their help with the juniors.

CSP Seminar 2013
Presteigne Dojo host CSP for the 4th Year!
For the 4th consecutive year I invited Al & Mick of Complete Self Protection to run a seminar at Presteigne dojo for students of Lee Taylor Karate and other like-minded martial artists wishing to experience world class instruction from these guys and the CSP group. Unfortunately Mick was unable to attend as he was competing in the BJJ British Open, which he went on to win and become the British Champion, so congratulations to Mick for a fantastic achievement, BUT you were missed at Presteigne Dojo!!
I met Al Peasland whilst attending Geoff Thompsons’ Masterclass where he was assisting Geoff on the demonstrations and delivering parts of the sessions in his unique and professional way on various topics relating to self protection. From meeting and being trained by Al I knew that to develop myself further as a student, instructor, karateka and martial artist I needed to train with him and the CSP group. I then signed up for the CSP Masterclass which was 6 months of high quality instruction on the arts delivered by Al & Mick along with world class guest instructors. The decision to attend this series of sessions was the best decision I could of made for my training and development and solidified the friendship we have created between Lee Taylor Karate and CSP. I am now in a position to train with Al & Mick on a monthly basis which can only be a positive for me and students of my clubs. This years seminar at Presteigne saw another Junior session delivered by Al, I added a junior section last year which was a huge success, as I felt it to be an important experience for the juniors not to be missed, and to show them the development that can be attained, and to train outside of their dojo comfort zone!
This session was great fun packed full of drills, some new some familiar for the juniors to get stuck into. Al was impressed (as was I) by the juniors attitude and ability during the session. A personal thank you to Ieuan Davies, Lucy Naylor, Daniel Hilliard of Rhayader dojo, D’yani Hinds Williams, Thomas Dam, Adam Corfield of Llanidloes dojo, Poppy Jones, Chloe Mclellan, Sam Spedding, Owen Thompson, George Taylor, Louis Whitehead, Joe Whitehead, Patrick Somervaille, Cara Fletcher, Jasper & Olllie Robinson of Presteigne dojo, and Tom Price, Jay Davies of Llandrindod dojo. I am proud of how you conducted yourselves and of how you attacked the session, all of you are a credit to Lee Taylor Karate.
The senior session was also packed full of drills covering various arts and ranges, some familiar ones to help us develop our skills and some new ones to try out and make our brains sweat! Theses sessions are always fun and relaxed and delivered in a unique way by Al, which creates a great atmosphere to assist our learning process, and makes everyone feel they can achieve anything. A credit to Al and the CSP group. A special thank you to Sensei Alan Turner and Steve Humble of Llandrindod dojo, Phil Jones, Clive Price, Neil & Sam Webster, Thomas & Ryan Woosnam, Martha Williams of Llanidloes dojo, , Mark Russell, Dave Thompson of Presteigne dojo, Mark Boszic, John Hampton-Saunders of Rhayader dojo. I really appreciate the support of these events, and your presence adds to a great atmosphere for the session.
Once again a huge thank you to Al and the CSP group for delivering 2 great sessions, and to all who attended and made the session the best to date! Look out for details of the next CSP Seminar!
See you on the next one!
